I have installed the Studio PCTV pro (Pinnacle Systems)in my ABIT BE6-2, Celeron 400, 128Mb
RAM, W2K.
The install went OK and the TV tuned in the available channels and worked
with a good picture until I changed channels a few times.
Then the TV locked up - The TV display went blue ( sometimes the TV display
goes snowy when this happens) and the audio is just hash. The lock up also
occurs if I use the channel surf button or change channels via the remote.
The auto tune won't work anymore.
The only way I can reset the PCTV card is to unplug the card from the
motherboard for a few seconds then reboot or leave the PC off over night.
I have tried the card in all PCI slots. I have removed all other cards.
The video card is an Intel 740 - I have the latest driver.
I have done the regdelete thing and reinstalled.
I can change settings in the PCTV but that has no effect. The PCTV is on an
irq by itself.
The PC doesn't lock up. I have formatted the hard drive and reinstalled W2K,
ME, W98 and W98SE in turn.
I have installed the 4.02 update.
I have the latest BIOS.
I tried the install on another PC running Win ME, W98SE and W2K and the same
fault occured.
The card has been returned to the supplier in Sydney (Australia) - No fault
found they say ???
I have tried this card on yet another PC - That makes three PC's. The
symptoms are the same.
Why doesn't the **** thing work ? Looks like I have a $325 piece of rubbish
!
I think the card is faulty !

Any ideas ?

Well I hate to say this, but if the manufacturer says the problem is not with the card, I would trust them for now, but with caution. What kind of config are we looking at here?

---are you running a cable cord/antenna to the tv, then an s-video or converter to the comp?

OR

---are you running a coaxial cable cord/antenna directly to the tv card on the comp

if you have config number one, post the specifications for that config, what kind of tv you have, age, and what kind of converter you are using.

if you chose option 2, make sure you have all the most up-to-date drivers, or go find them at the manufacturers website.

Best of luck,

Michael

TV antenna directly to TV tuner caard in PC. Good picture on normal TV - good picture on PC before it locks up.
I have the latest drivers.
