How does one reset the timing belt on a printer? A friend of mine didn't realize I was just finishing a ink change over and slammed the ink carridge over to the right where it should be. (dunce)

Epson Stylus
Color 640

I don't see any reference points to go by even. I know that printers are cheap but that wouldn't be very green of me to just throw out a perfectly good printer.

Cheers!

Didja try turning it off then on? I have jammed cannon's around occasionaly and just turnig them off then on fixes em up.... They make some god awful noises but realign themselves.

Yeah, I've done that on my Epson Photo 750 Printer and the belt just realigned itself when switching the power off and then back on.

It wasn't that easy here for some reason.

Does anyone know of a reference point under the lid to set the ink cartridge?

Some how they do this at the factory.

Cheers!

Have you talked to Epson yet?

Thanks Richard and Epson is a long distance call. I meant to call them this morning but got a little busy. If Richards idea doesn't work I will give them a call in the morning.

Thanks for the replies.

If a Epson 440 is similar, I'll measure the thing for you and post..

I looked it up in the booklet as the machine is new and I haven't had the issue come up.

On the 440 there is a cut-out on the right side behind the cartridge travel, the carts center themselves in this cutout when the change cart button is pushed for 3 seconds.

The change cart button is the one above the one with the ink droplets, it looks like a piece of paper.
Makes me think of a "paper feed" button instead, but that's what it is on this one..

I've had good luck e-mailing companies with similar problems..

get back,, let us know
