I have just bought a new Apacer 128mb pc133 sdram stick(single side). My mobo is p3v4x.I have also in my system is Samsung 128mb sdram pc 100(can run133mhz)with ecc (I didn't use ecc,so i turn it of)(double side).Whenever i plug both rams apacer and samsung. My mobo prefers the apacer(single side).I want 256mb but my mobo won't use both of the ram sticks. what should i do?

ECC RAM is more expesive than non-ECC RAM so I would sell the ECC stick to someone that can use it, then get a new matching Apacer stick and buy a coke with the money you have left over.

Good advice Yank! Especially since the ECC RAM is slower anyway.

Plus I would feel better if I had the same type of memory in my computer instead of two different brands. You never know what kind of chip architecture problems will cause you grief. I would definetely sell the ECC type and pick up another 128MB since it's a great price right now.

OR use it in another computer that really need it. having more then 128meg doesn't do you much good.

128MB is enough unless you want to put a gig on there and set up a RAM DRIVE, Then set windows or Linux to utilize the RAM DRIVE to load all the OS core so that the system actually runs from the RAM. But that's another story....if it's even possible, just thinking illlogical er something like that.
