Ok this is the deal, I have the basic setup to share a DSL modem between two computers. My DSL modem is connected to my Linksys 5 port hub (not a router, just a basic hub) and the two computers are connected from there. Now the sharing of the DSL was absolutely nooo problem before. Both computers could log into the ISP (still have to log in with earthlink DSL) with no problems at all. Now for some reason, only one computer can use the DSL at a time. When one computer is using it and the other tries to connect, it just says "loggin in..." and it stays like that until the error message pops up. This has never happened before and its not because of the IP (dynamic IP is what we have). I thought it may be something in the network card but we can still access eachothers shared folders and transfer files back and forth no problem. So the hub is working and the network cards are working just fine. Its just for some reason we can't share the DSL modem now. WHY?!!?! ANyone know? God its such a pain! PLEASE HELP!
Earthlink tech support does not know why this would happen. Their systems are up and running so its no on their end and they don't do networkin troubleshooting so the guy said to call the hub maker (who is LinkSys) but I don't really see why if the hub seems to be working (shown by the fact that we can transfer files between eachother no problem).
But the **** thing wont share!!!! ARGH! Isn't sharing caring?! HEEEEEEEEEELPP!
