How are these? I was going to buy a Dell at first but then I decided to check out quantex, and they seem to have best bang for buck.

This is one of the situations where buying name brand can hurt you, and I'm not saying Quantex is brand name either. You really can't upgrade brand names much except for some ram, a slightly faster processor, and a hard drive, well maybe. And if you do, you can only buy the parts from them. There's a good chance you can't upgrade the video card, especially if it's on board.

You really need to check out what make and model the motherboard is and all the devices. In my opinion, most users don't want to fiddle with the inside of the computer. They just want it to work. And that's where Packard Bell (sorry for swearing), Compaq, Acer, IBM, etc. all of them come into play. But for the users who want a REAL SYSTEM, then they have it built, build it, or have someone help them build their system with what they want in it. Then the learning curve comes in.

We all have to go down that frustrating road and staying up to 1 or 2 A.M. to get to the other side, so to speak. But we did it. And years ago, there was no internet either. So it was more difficult then than it is now. Would we do it again? You bet we would. In a heartbeat.

So you have a decision to make. Once you have build a few systems, the fear of the unknown is gone. And it becomes easier to fix any system.

Sorry for the length. Hope it helps.
