Here are the specs on this sys that i just put together A7V asus motherboard/850 thunderbird/256 pc 133 ram/20 gig west dig hard drive/geforce 2 mx 32 mg card/creative 128 bit card/supra modem... think thats it but the problem is when i run some programs alot or at the same time i get locked up and have to hard boot to comp to get out of them... this is especially true with 3D games that i run on the system they will run from a minute to 2 seconds so i'm thinking its the power supply since i heard a rumor that the wrong power and the a7v could cause these kind of lock ups so any suggestions out there like bios settings for the power on the board or something like that?

It may be because of IRQ conflict - try moving the sound card into a different PCI slot.

The PCI bus only has 4 IRQ's assigned to it, so it's designed for IRQ sharing i.e. you can have more PCI slots than 4.
I would look more at the PSU and cooling side of things. Establish what your temperature's are, and what your PSU voltages are.
What does the system report as far as heat. Are you running the system with a 230watt PSU, or ?
Does the fault happen when your doing low processor usage tasks?
Does the fault occur when the system is lying idle?
Can you minimise the system a little? i.e. disconnect second hard drive, sound card, etc... and still run the same application to cause the fault? or does it take longer after minimising?

Just a few ideas to give you a better picture of what's going on.
