Is there a sure way that I can disable the on-board video card for this motherboard M748Lmrt from Pc-chips company, (I know under the BIOS soft menu, I can tell the system which is the primary display,PCI or AGP) I am thinking about getting the Voodoo 3000 PCI but I don't know if it will work as I can not return the card once I installed it. Thank you.
Nick.

Hello again all my friend http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Thanks to all of you guys for helping me with your opinions, I was in Oregon this weekend and picked up an Voodoo5 5500 PCI card for 199.00 (no tax :-)). Installed, works excellent. Here is what I did. Hopefully this will help someone else out there.
Under Bios, primary display is set PCI
Under Windows, in device manager I disabled the onboard video card.
Thanks again for all of your help, especially Dave...... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

In Device MGR, you can click the box at the bottom of the onboard video properties to disable the hardware item. Do not remove it from the Dev MGR because it will only be redetected when you boot back up.

Basically,
Keep your monitor hooked to the OBV (onboard vid)
Install the VD3 into the PCI or AGP
Boot up, install the VD3 drivers
Reboot
Go into Device MGR (start\control pan\system\device mgr) and click on display adapters
Highlight the OBV and click properties
At the bottom, check the box that has Disable this device
Shutdown
Move monitor cable from OBV to VD3
You should be in business running with the VD3.

Good luck
Dave

Thank you Dave, I will give it a try as soon as I get my video card.

Remember to choose PCI as the primary display adapter in the BIOS!!. I have the 598lmr and to disable the onboard video I just installed the PCI Voodoo 3 and booted with the monitor still plugged to the OBV. Entered the BIOS, changed the setting to PCI and finally hooked the monitor cable to the Voodoo. It should work!

I did this for my dad and ran into a problem. Make sure their is no jumperpin on the board to disable onboard vid. If you don't do this it will still use the ram as if it's still hooked up. Just a thought
