For example; Playing Unreal, Recoil, Tiger99, Motocross Madness, World Superbike, Tanarus, Recoil, or FA-18 Korea would all get choppy at times. Especially when there were explosions and multiple characters/vehicles. I now have a Celeron 366 o-c'd to 456 and all of my problems went away. The Voodoo2 and Voodoo3 cards rely heavily on the system processor for frame rates if I'm not mistaken. Upgrade if you have the $$$$, and you'll be suprised. /forum/smile.gif Jim Dominus 11-30-1999, 06:38 PM AMD K7 600 @ 666 w/ ATI All-In-Wonder 128 (16mb version). I get 72 fps in Q3A @ 800*600. Q2 looks very bright, but I get 91 fps @ 800*600. OpenGL mode in HalfLife is wonky, but looks great. I use D3d mode instead, which handles better, but doesn't look as great. MrEd 11-30-1999, 07:17 PM I have a Celery 400 with DSL. My friend with a 266, and cable modem gets higher pings than me on Counter Strike. I think the processor has a lot to do with connection speed too. If you're asking for opinions, yes, upgrade your processor. -MrEd /forum/smile.gif Pantion 11-30-1999, 07:24 PM Little cel 366@458 with 64MB ram and using a Monster Fusion (PCI). I use to play games mostly on consoles like SNES, but not ever since I knew what a computer actually is and the endless things it can do for you, not just games. Ya know what I mean? plucky duck 12-01-1999, 10:38 AM Apostle - Yes, playing games on the ATI may not be a whole lot of fun, but where it really shines is 2d, tv-out, its all-in-one features, and subjectively, its excellent mpeg-2 decoding capabilities both thru software and hardware and sharp outputs. So yeah, other than gaming, it kicks *** in every other feature. Give credit where credit is due. stu 12-01-1999, 10:40 AM I'm running PII 350 with Voodoo 3 3000 256 megs RAM Games differ. The bottleneck is the HDD (128MB RAM would also help), as I like to have loads of games with minumum installs - so things tend to load off CD a fair bit. Next major game purchase for me will most likely be Diablo 2. I’m going to upgrade the video card and hard drive (ATA66 7200RPM) after the first of the year but that will be it for this machine. I’m going to build myself an Athlon system around April of 2000. I’ll strip out the new video, hard drive, CD-RW and put those in the new system. I’ll remove the LS-120 and put it in another system I own. Reinstall the Banshee and Seagate into the P2 450 and give it to my brother for his Birthday in May.
