Hello All. I am having a strange power problem. When I try to boot my computer, it almost always will not boot on first try. It starts to boot, but about 5 or 6 seconds in, (I can hear drives spinnin up, etc) it shuts off. I have to disconnect power supply connection, and/or rearrange the power connections for drives, many times. For example, to boot this time, I had to rearrange connections and disconnect/reconnect the power-supply to AC cable connection many times.
HMonitor pro says my core voltage is at 1.65 highlighted in red, meaning this value is not good (aux voltage at 1.55, also red). Is this the correct voltage? If not, could this be causing the problems? Here are my system specs:
P3-667 Coppermine
VIA 3PRO chipset mobo.
256mb ram
I got the case/power supply from a friend,and I don't know brand name/specs for It. he used it with a k6-3-500
HMonitor ssays I/O voltage is either 3.33 or 3.31 (varies regularly) Thanks for any and all help. post any questions you may have.

I had the same problem once. I replaced the power supply and it fixed the problem. Do you have a volt meter to check your power supply with? Also you might need a stronger power supply for the cpu to run correctly. It should be atleast a 250.

Cheap power supplies will cause the same problem. Try a good known power supply.

Here's two companies: http://www.antec-inc.com http://www.pcpowercooling.com

There are others out there, just can't remember off the top of my head.

Zippycut,
I have the identical problem with my system except that I have to remove the side panel, wait until the AC power switch disengages, and then it will power-up.
I was curious as to wether it is the powersupply or the auto power down feature that shuts the harddrive power off after I press shutdown.
I am going to contact technical help, still in warranty.I will post my results as to the solution to my problem.
Please email me if you get a solition!
