I am thinking of buying one of these. Mainly because I am thinking about buying a digital camera that handles them. Do these connect through like a cdrom or a hard drive (IDE) or do they connect through the floppy cable like the 1.44 drives? thanks
By the way, if anyone else is looking for a good deal, The cheapest I have found for an internal is 59.00 shipping included with 2 day fed ex at: http://www.computercomputer.com/imation_superdisk_ls120_internal.htm

The data cable is IDE... i.e. like a CD ROM or HD & the power is like a floppy. As long as you have a recent MB/Bios(recent meaning no more than a couple of years old) Then it is as simple as connecting a CD rom or floppy drive.
I would be interested in knowing what camera you a looking at.
Good luck, K.

The reason I asked what kinda cable it connects through is because I already have a hdd, a zip, a cr-rw and a dvd/cd (I KNEW I should have got scsi /forum/wink.gif ) and the extra controller card I have doesnt allow me to overclock very well....but Its a fair trade off when I can store 120mb of pics on one disk and its easily trasferrable via superdisk /forum/smile.gif The link that I was given on another site when I was originnally looking for a digital camera that takes zip disks (so far no such thing) was for this camera:
http://www.zdnet.com/pcmag/stories/trends/0,7607,2384472,00.html but I coudlnt find it on the panasonic or the sony websites anywhere. But I will keep looking...it may not be out yet.

if you have a cd-rw why not just burn your pic's stright to a cd and then you would not need to worry about it save up 650 meg worth or there about's and do some burning heck disks are only $1.00 apiece or less /forum/smile.gif
alot cheaper than 120 meg zip disks

Yeah, but any digital camera has to use something to transfer (flash cards, click card from iomega, floppies) from the camera to the computer and I would just like to get the largest amount of memory available "in" the camera...and don't worry, I plan on using the cd-rw to its full extent if I do get a digital camera =) I dont know...a 2mb flash card just isnt big enough. With that small amount (ability to store maybe 17 pics on a good camera) I'll be changing flash cards in and out...and for me the whole point of going digital is ease. And with a ls-120 I can theoretically use it on other computers to transfer large files a la zip....now only if people would buy the silly things =)

Ummm, Chip, it's not that easy.
I would like to have a superdisk myself, but it's among many things that have to wait.
In the meantime, bounce computercomputer against it's listing in Reseller Ratings. I think you'll change vendors...

You could get an external LS 120. Connect to your printer port.
Probably a little more expensive, but it would work.

Chip I've had a superdisk for 2 years now.
Sometimes I fall asleep trying to open a disk.
I see the new ones say there faster but I wish I had the CDRW for backups. Don't get over excited.
