In order to play MP3, you need 3 things. Speakers (duh...), a processing unit, and decoding software. I love doing this, so here is my, 'so that every joe may understand.'
MP3 is regular cd quality music that has been 'squashed' into somewhere between 1/10 and 1/11 of its original size. You therefore need an 'unsquasher' (processor and decoding software) to hear it.
Please, no one get offended by my 'every joe' deal... I know most of you are IT pros! I just like doing that joe deal. If your name is Joe, then read it as Mary.

Was there some talk about how to copy mp3 files onto Cd so that they can be played in a normal cd player. Is it software dependant, ie does it need a certain version of nero or easy Cd. I'm sure there was some talk about it earlier but i can't find it.
cheers again

Sorry but it isn't actually CD quality music. Since it is being squashed you have to get rid of some data in the signal. This is done by working out which bits are not going to be heard above which other bits and so removing them as they should not have been heard anyway. Due to this it will never actually be the same quality as the CD.
What i wanted to know is is there any software which will convert a MP3 to Cda to allow it to be copied to CD or can it just be converted to WAV.

you are supposed to beable to play wav in cd players but it's best to convert mp3 directly to cda look at www.download.com (http://www.download.com) or zdnet in the mp3 downloads there are like 20 diff programs to do that, that should work with your burner. I can't tellya which one is the best havent used any of them but they are there to be had http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Donkey, I didn't say mp3 was cd quality. I said that the music it was taken from was cd quality. Sorry I didn't answer your original question... I went on a torrent of bull and couldn't stop http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
