Hey, I am getting a red screen, a loss of monitor sync message and a continuous beep from my computer when I try and load Windows 98. This all started happening out of nowhere. The computer will boot and the Windows 98 screen will come up but as soon as the computer goes to the main Windows 98 screen I get a red screen and a beeping noise. My monitor also displays the out of sync message that it displays when it's not getting a signal. I went through and got into safe mode just fine. I checked the system devices and saw nothing out of the ordinary. It only locks up like this when I boot with normal mode. Does this sound like a hardware or software problem? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I've never heard of this type of error before, but if you can boot correctly into safe mode but not normally that lets you know that there is a software conflict somewhere. I would guess something to do with your video drivers for sure (hence the red screen). The only thing I can think of would be to swap your video drivers. If your video drivers are not the problem then run msconfig and check your autoexec.bat config.sys and startup tabs. Click start, click run and type in msconfig to run the program.
