dvd movie lock up

hi! i am having problem with my pioneer 16x dvdrom. it freezes everytime in the middle of the movie. i tried several dvd software decoder but all freezes. i suspect that there is something wrong with my win 98 becasue i cannot enable DMA for my dvd rom. everytime i tied to enable it by checking the box under system but after a reboot the check disappear. any suggestion?
i don't think my drive is broken or anything becuz it can play cd, vcd quite fine

Do you have a non-DMA device on the same IDE channel? Move it to the other channel if you do.

hi!
my dvd drive has its own ide cable so i don't think other drive would cause that problem.
secondly, i used to be able to turn on DMA for my drive but not anymore. is there a other way i could turn it on? i keeps unlocking itself after the reboot. it happended to my other cd rom drives as well.

i didn't set any sleep mode or anything on really the movie just suddenly freeze in the middle of the movies. it happened for lots of diff movie and i don't know know why.

Usually, most sytems come with the power management in the BIOS and in Windows to go to sleep after an hour, try diabling the power managemnet in both the BIOS and Windose.

Which Soft DVD players have you tried exactly?

i tried power dvd, xing dvd, win dvd, cinemaster player, and window media player, all of them crashes in the middle of the movies.

i'll try to disable the sleep mode

Any power saver options running? I don't believe movies access the HD very often, it may be trying to sleep.
