I have two PC and none of them (Win 98, 32MB, 450 MHz and Win 95, 486, 24MB, 66 MHz) does not restart in MS-DOS mode but freezes after clicking this option. Before I had removed W95/CIH virus from both of them but there is no other problem.
What is the program that restart the PC in MS-Dos mode and can I replace it from the Kit?
Please help!

BFlurie i removed all of those files and still my machine blasts right thru the post and into windows98 without stopping at DOS, I give up and just use F-8 and command prompt start-up to get into DOS.

bflurie's answer is for DOS ONCE in Winders. I believe you refer to the boot menu, which occurs with the F8 and occasionally on a bad shutdown. If you want to dual boot Winders 9x and DOS, you will need a boot util.

Gmcpher, if you want the boot menu to show automatically, the line:
BootMenu=1
needs to be under the [Options] section in Msdos.sys
You can also have it go directly to DOS & stop there w/these lines:
BootMenu=0
BootGUI=0
This will run Config.sys & Autoexec.bat & then end @ a command prompt. To start Windows, simply type:
Win
Is this what you're looking for?

Msdos.sys is marked read-only -- you'll have to change that to edit. Remember, just make sure the above lines are present as shown -- don't delete anything else.

Delete any of these files you find in c:\windows:
Exit To Dos
Dosprompt
Exitto~1
Then try it.

The problem lies in the "dosstart.bat" file located in the c:\windows folder.
Edit it with notepad, and REM all lines. (You don't need any of them at this point.)
If you NEED sound card support, CD-ROM support, or modem support, you will have to set those up again.
