I remember seeing that the athlon requires a 300 watt power supply, but not where I saw it now. It's the current draw that requires the 300 watt supply if I remember right.

Try www.amd.com (http://www.amd.com) and submit an EMail to their tech support. They do talk about approved motherboards and just about everything else but power supply requirements there.

An Athlon requires a 250w at least, but 300w is recommended. As long as it's on the AMD recommended PS list, it's OK.

A friend is buying a 600MHz athlon and is trying to get a 300W power supply for it as this is what i thought they needed. All the computer shops that he is trying to buy from tell him that he only needs a 250W supply and that they don't usually use 300W with the athlon. So who has the wrong end of the stick? I don't want to recommend something to him which is not going to work!
Any thoughts or experience would be most appreciated.
