Try booting with the step by step confirmation to check what might be causing the problem.
(assuming using win98)Press f8 to when it says loading win98 then choose step by step confimation. it then goes through all your config and autoexec etc just press 'y' for each option till you get the one that is causing the probs. the come back and we'll see what we can do

after the boot menu it crashes, that why I said it was command.com, due to the fact I can enter that menu. And since the command.com file from my system, I don't think it's stuffed... I going to to try the memory today to see if that the problem... But if any one has any ideas what it could be, please help

Am I understanding you correctly that you copied your command.com file onto your friend's machine? I don't think that's going to do any good.

Assuming you both are running the same OS (say Win98), try booting to the Win98 startup disk, and then at the A:\> prompt type fdisk /mbr [Enter]
[note the space between fdisk and /mbr]. When the A:\> prompt returns type
sys c: [Enter]
[one space between sys and c:], and after a minute or two you should see the message "System Transferred". Remove the floppy and restart.

Hope this helps! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
