The software we are using right now is service center. It's designed just for what you are wanting.

When I get to work tomorrow, hopefully I'll remember and post the link to their site.

If you're looking for something simple off the shelf - we at one time considered using ACT! by Symantec. It's actually designed as a marketing contact software, but can double as a small knowledge base with notes capability. Also, as it's under Symantec, it can easily be linked with PC Anywhere for remote access if you need to be out of the office.

Thanks for you time and effort Nathan, Service Center looks cool BUT is a bit more
than we need and can afford right now.
$18,000 to start! Gonna check out ACT and see if we can get by on that for a while<Thanks!> and am still looking for some more suggestions. Like where can I pick up some MS Access templates or?
Thanks in Advance guys....

You may want to consider learning Access and a little bit of VBA.
I've just handed over my first custom database to a client (former colleague who put in a good word for me) and put in my invoice for around $400 (my dad reckons it should have been more, but I'm an honest guy).
I had invested in Que's standard guide to Access 97 and Microsoft's Getting Started in VBA for Access (thanks socalgal) for an interview, and now I'm earning money on the side /forum/smile.gif

PS my girlfriend works on an IT helpdesk, and they use some kind of call logging/progress software. I'll re-edit if I find out what it is.

Thanks both U-96 and Axel!
Working on my N+ cert now and there just isn't anymore room left in this skull for learning access DB design right now. I KNOW that someone has allready gone through this before me and has written a template. I dont need to reinvent the wheel, just don't have the time,it's a great thing to have under your belt but I need to focus on one mountain at a time, right now mine is networking. So I'll still beg for a link to a site that has some Access templates for now I guess. Please keep the Ideas comin guys!
Thanks in Advance Boys...

In the same thread that I got soc's book recommendation, awwall posted this very useful link. I certainly learned a few tricks there.
There are also links to several Access developers, BBS, etc that may be able to help you out.

My girlfriends company uses
Dr Solomons Magic Help Desk suite http://www.nai.com/international/uk/asp_set/products/tsd/mhdsme_intro.asp
Can't comment on it's effectiveness or cost, but you might want to chase it.
Good luck

I can understand now what you are going throught Hellcat. After talking to an active Access user, he wasn't able to refer me to a built-in template for what you are trying to do.
Apparently, like U-96, they write their own databases. He recommended looking through the business section in the software aisle. I did some searching online, and found this, maybe it will do what you want...

Sorry I wasn't able to come up with much.
