Ex.
Yahoo Search: Apple
Assimilate
Beach Ball

These are in a drop down window is this an option in IE5? Can it be turned off?
Any help would be apperciated.

LOL...had a friend that had the same problem...her children used it after her and they were the ones that told her what she had searched for...redfaced is an understatement...just dont search for places you dont want people to know about or go to the web site and search from there...other than that I cant help you...she now goes to the search engines web site..

The thing is that it saves everything I type in the boxes for example on this page it will store
Jackson3D my Username and my Password
And when I go to yahoo and search for a word that starts with "J" it will bring up Jackson3D.

I have used other IE and they never stored every word typed in.

Is there any one out there with an answer?

ALso say i type in all my personal info on a sign up page.
Example
Name:
Address:
Email:

It will store that info and at times it is help but other times it is not.

I found it!!!

In the Internet Options folder there is an option called auto complete,

This was the culprit!

Its called autocomplete and is found under Tools -> Internet Options -> content
You can disable this, and I think itll stop saving that
If it is in the adress box, clear the history to get rid of it.
If it is in a search box, then simply click once, highlight the entry you want deleted, and press delete, or go to Tools -> Internet options -> Content -> Autocomplete and click Delete forms to clear all history in forms.

Does it work for ya?

Dontcha just love MS default settings...
As well as filling in forms, it will remember usernames and passwords....
along with the one which shares your internet files with the world and the one which allows webadmins to leech your clipboard...

Watch socalgal's security post for details of more in this amazing catalogue of ineptitude...

Autocomplete is not a default setting
The first time you fill in a form, it will prompt you as to whether you want it on.
It is on "prompt" by default.
Still sucks tho, but it helps me a bit, so I eave it on. I got nuthin here everyone else cant see..nuthin to hide..I think /forum/smile.gif

I love that setting in IE5, If i want to go into my yahoo mail account, I type the first letter in my account name and it fills in the rest! very cool, I dont know how you cannot like it.

Actually I just discovered this recently myself /forum/redface.gif but now I'm used to typing in my name and pwl every time, and gain yet another small measure of feeling somewhat more secure... til the next discovery /forum/wink.gif

BlackIce Defender
Proxy
NukeNabber

run at all times. I have had at least 100 attempted intrusions since I installed BID less than a month ago. It's well worth the $39.95, IMO.

I consider it absolutely necessary since I'm on DSL.

I have BID and a proxy...what does nuke nabber do?

Ooooor, I could just look for myself /forum/smile.gif

"New Version of NukeNabber sets itself up to listen on TCP and UDP ports commonly attacked over the internet. A total of 50 ports can be monitored simultaneously. It is designed to give you the information you need in order to trace an attacker including a method of finding an attackers nickname on IRC. It now also does detection on ICMP's!!!! This version of nuke nabber also uses DDE link to your IRC program. Supports MIRC, Pirch and Virc. link it to it and it will kickban and ignore anyone that nukes you, from the channels your op'd in.
Remember just because you show a connection to Nuke Nabber this dosn't always mean that you are being nuked. If some one port scans you this will also show on Nuke Nabber."

It's another intrustion detector that also stops BO scanners, works pretty well for a freebie
NukeNabber (http://www.dynamsol.com/puppet/nukenabber.html).

Very few hits on NN since running BID, and for your browser to run effectively using NN, you can't set more than 13 - 18 ports (my experience). Uses a default port set. I would recommend it - it's alot better than nothing.

Jammer (http://jammer.comset.net/) which is supposedly better but it costs $20.00.

See blurb:
