Linux stuck at password/just blinking cursor

Do you have a USB keyboard? If so, try a regular ps/2 or din5 keyboard.

No, just logitech internet keyboard. Will try switching to ps/2 mouse and another keyboard just to see what happens. Thanks for the help.

Newbie at Linux Redhat 6.1, installed and runs through entire bootup sequence saying ok but then I get a "name of pc"login _ on screen but it will not accept my password. I would really like to start using Linux so if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong I would appreciate it. I partitioned it as:
/: 500mb
/usr: 1500mb
/swap:150mb
P3-650 w/ 128mb ram
only thing I'm not sure of is I have a Radeon graphics card but I thought it would still boot up using the vga drivers.

does no letters appear when you type? if that is the problem, then it's just because the letters are not shown on screen, but are registered. asfaik, you just type your pwd, and hit enter.

yes, no letters are shown when I type them in. I did try typing in my password as well as "root" but it just sits there blinking.
Doesn't even move or show *s for what you are inputting. Could it be because I skipped the first step during installation, when it asked for a drivers disk, which I don't have. The keyboard worked during install, but my mouse is not supported(intellimouse explorer).
