When I try to load 3D Studio Max, I get a message saying I have the wrong hardware lock? What is this? Does it have something to do with the fact the Studio Max was designed for use with Intel? (I have a Duron) I know how to change it for use with an AMD, but is this really the problem? Please, this is a $3k program, I would very much like to get it working.
A hardware lock is a device that protects software (the very expensive kind) like you program from piracy. These devices can be something that is attached to the parallel port (we have several programs at work taht use them). The program searches for this lock on startup, and if doesn't find it, it won't start. If you can prove you legally own this program, you should be able to contact the software manufacturer and get a new one (although that could be a problem, cuz then they might think you'll have 2 keys and could pirate the software).

If you truely owned this product you would know what a hardware dongle is. Please do not ask for help with pirated software on this or other Earthweb sites.
