Those who read sysopt know I've been tracking down who makes reliable CDRW's. Choice was Plextor which is IDE and 32x8x4x and Yamaha which was scsi (hooray!) but only 16x read.
Annyywaayyy...happened to be speaking to a major UK distributor's technical dept...and it turns out that they're evaluating (like this week) a new version of the 6416 CDRW only in 24x8x4 scsi, priced only a trivial amount more which was made available for sale only last week. Will be talking to Yamaha's tech director and sidekick again tomorrow so if any interesting snippets come up I'll post them here for readers.
