when i boot i get a message windows protection error and my computer stop
what can i do?
i have reinstall windows 98 but nothing happen

Did you install any new hardware? I always get this error after I install something in my computer and it wants to take the same IRQ as my video card.

Just a thought.

no i did not install anything new
the pc was working fine and when i reinstall
windows after format it hang up

Replace your RAM. Check if one of the sticks is damaged! I had this problem not so long ago.

Boot into safe mode and look at the boot logs from the previous failed boot. bootlog.old or something like that.
windows protection errors can occur when it tries and fails to load vxd files which won't load in safe mode.
So in the bootlog they will be marked. It might help narrow down what the problem is.
I get protection errors all the time and still haven't worked out exactly what is causing the problem tho'
