The two most popular programs are AudioCatalyst (http://www.xingtech.com/mp3/audiocatalyst/) and MusicMatch's JukeBox (http://www.musicmatch.com/). Both can encode a 3 1/2min song to a 128kbps mp3 format in little under 30sec. This does depend somewhat on your CD-ROM drive's audio extraction capabilities, however, it shouldn't be an issue with any decent drive.

The main difference of the programs is the user interface. So download both, see which interface suits you best. Note the JukeBox download will not allow CD quality ripping. the purchase of the product is required.

Once again, both are very capable and have similar recoding options. Both are fast. You shouldn't have to look any further.

Actually, I own Musicmatch Jukebox, and it does allow CD quality ripping (as long as you register it.) Not to mention free upgrades after that. So, whatchu talkin bout Willis?
