My computer crashed and upon rebooting it froze while loading windows98, second reboot gave me an error:vmm32.vxd was altered or corrupted in some way you must enter setup and reinstall. The error message didnt go exactly like that but thats the general message. After that I havent been able to boot windows at all that includes safe mode, etc... Just need to know how I would go about reinstalling vmm32.vxd through dos or is there another way? win98 cd doesnt seem to have vmm32.vxd so should I get it off of another computer? Any help is appreciated.

It sounds like a configmgr.vxd problem to me. check out this site of mine to see if it helps out.

Each computers VMM32.dll file is unique. You might luck out and extract the right file that will clear up your bad boy messages. I installed all the files mentioned on the page. They are all small and when I do a step by step confirmation they are all in attendence on load.

Cheers!
