I am not at all familiar with this process and the directions on the Abit site are, to me, confusing. Can someone help this rookie?
Many thanks for any help.
Thank you,

Though it is an easy thing to do it can sometimes go wrong and then you are stuck. Some time the old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" is the best option. if you tell us what the reasons for flashing are i'm sure we'll guide you through the process if we reckon it will be of an advantage to you. Axel 09-06-2000, 08:11 AM Donkey's totally right - he even put it nicely - One thing - BIOS files are EXTREMELY motherboard specific - close doesn't count here. Also - BIOS flashes are unforgiving - mess it up and you can plan on ordering a new BIOS EPROM chip from ABIT ( don't bother going to AWARD or whomever else made the chip - they'll send you back to the OEM ) Donkey's point is - if you have to ask this question - chances are extremely slim that you actually do need a BIOS update unless some ABIT technician told you so during a support call that you needed one. What's your goal - what isn't working the way you think it should - lets hear that first. reddoc 09-06-2000, 10:16 AM Thanks for the quick response!! I have the original first release bios. According to what I have read on the Matrox forums, ( I have the Matrox G400 Max video card), and to what Abit states on their Bios update site, the latest bios fixes several problems that Matrox video cards have had. I have had a few glitches while running the Expendable game and some other small problems which were possibly addressed by now. This latest bios update is the 4th I believe and I waited till now, but since they specifically state that this bios update fixes Matrox problems I figured now is the time. Thanks again, Michael Donkey 09-07-2000, 05:10 AM It does sound like you might need the update so it is worth a shot. have you had a look at http://www.abit.nl/english/download/help.htm that explains as well as i could how to do. With diargams and images aswell have a read of this and then come back again if you are still unsure. Good Luck!! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif p.s. make sure you get the correct bios (v important) SysOpt.com
