Offline CDs

I have a lot of files stored on CDs. I wonder if there is anyway under Win2000 I can set it up so that those offline CD’s can look like directories on my hard drive. So if I need a file that is not on the hard drive but is on one of the offline CDs the system will prompt me to put it the right CD etc. I have a cataloging program called “where is it” it’s very good but I want something more transparent.

Any ideas?

Have you checked out Symantec's Virtual CD?

I suspect Virtual CD is not what I need. Virtual CD copies the contents and puts the CDs online storing them on the disk.

I don't want the CD's online. There are nearly 250 so it's just not possibly (I don't have disk space) plus Virtual CD does not catalog the contents so I would still have to use another program to find what I am looking for.
