Pollux 11-26-1999, 02:44 AM Now i'm not for certain, but i believe that ecc ram will in fact slow down your system a little bit. the time it takes to actually error correct is time added on to the time it would take normal ram to do. ecc ram isn't so much needed by the average user either, it's mostly for people doing a lot of accounting-type work as well. about the athlon mother board, i have no idea... but like i said before, i'm not positive but that's what i've heard about the ecc ram. -pollux Gene C. 11-26-1999, 06:50 AM you don't need ecc unless you are running a server or workstation. I have and old intel mobo al440lx with p2-333 and 64 mb ecc ram. took out the ecc and put in reg. stick and it did load and run faster. back than ecc was a lot higher than reg. and I thought it was better. now it is about the same price. so I think it is to each his or her own. http://members.aol.com/mnecctek/faqs.html SysOpt.com
