Is there anyway I can have my new computers share 1 monitor? Something where I can switch back and forth between the two?

One computer is being set up as a RC5/File Server/extra thing..

thanks!

How much do you want to spend?

There are low cost monitor switchers, but don't get the manual switch, get the electronic switch. The manual ones can toast your monitor or video card (I know, I started with one and killed my favorite monitor).

There are more expensive switches that change your monitor, mouse and keyboard. I'm using a power reach KVM controller. I love it, but it's a couple hundred for the box and all the cables.

This is just a suggestion if you decide that you want a completely new monitor. I'm building my system right now and i'm getting the sony 400ps. it's a great monitor that can switch between two different boxes at the push of a button. It's trinitron with great display and overall it's an outstanding monitor, but it'll run you close to $600 if you decide to go that route. just an idea

Don't let beck scare you. At work we have that very thing running. One monitor, mouse, keyboard, through a manual switchbox, two computers. Both computers have been running that way 24-7 for 6-7 months. One of them is our server.

AB (two position) ATX switchbox and x-tra cables $20. Just orderd them for my home machine, yesterday.

Does anyone know where I can get an AB data switch? I think I had one at one time (came in a grab bag-box I bought off Ebay) but I sold it because I wasn't using it- just my luck, I need it now.

Thanks!

Yikes.. I might be able to find a cheap-o small monitor on Ebay for around that price and just use that.

thanks though
