Hi Everyone http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/redface.gif)
I removed my modem to add a NIC card. Removed it from the device manager, deleted the driver to CLM configuration in control panel, but can not remove it in add/remove programs. Now on startup the pc looks for CLM_DBS.VXD. I think I need to remove something from system.ini !!
Can Anyone Help
Thanks for any help c3p0-11n

Did you install it to begin with in Add/Remove Programs? That sounds kind of odd to me, but if that's the case, maybe you could just reinstall it, remove it from Add/Remove Programs, then remove it from Device Manager.

Another option is to open Start => Run and type sysedit. Search the files there for the reference that is calling for it and delete the line (especially in System.ini like you said).

THANK HOWSTE!!
I tried to find clm in the system.ini but it was not there. So I installed the hardware and the drivers with the install new hardware in control panel. There I found a uninstall drivers tab I must have missed before. I used it and it was removed from my installed probgrams list. I then tried to remove the icon in the control panel and was told that the drivers had been uninstalled and that I should shut down and remove the card. I did and startup is clean except that the icon is still in my control panel. If it is opened the reply is that the drivers have been removed and that I should shut down and remove. If I say no I get the uninstall tab again but when used am told that the drivers can not be uninstalled. So I guess for now CLM is along for the ride. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE HELP!! If you have any suggestions for removing the icon great but it seem to be no problem for now

If you install Tweak UI from your Windows disk, Tools, ResKit, You will have the option of clearing your Add/Remove item for clm and you can hide the Modem icon in your Control Panel.

Or you can manually remove the icon in the ADD /REMOVE PROGRAMS by deleting the Registery key in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ MICROSOFT \ WINDOWS \ CURRENTVERSION \ UNINSTALL \ "Program Name"

R-click the c:\windows\system folder, choose Find & type in:
*.cpl
Double-click each one until you find the left-over "offender" & send it to cyperspace heaven (delete it).

More GREAT help !!!!
Thanks to Beemers,NDC&BFlurie.
I did not install the tweak UI yet but will as I try to learn PC's. It must be interesting.
Do not know where or how to look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and any tip you have to offer NDC will be used
But when the find in the system folder unvaled the culprit, to syberspace it went.
Now to install the NIC card and then look for more of U'all's help
Thanks All Bruce

The HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE etc. NDC is talking about is in the system registry. Note: be VERY careful when editing the registry! If you accidentally delete or change the wrong thing you could cause any number of problems, including the inability to start Windows at all. Always back up the registry before you change anything.

That being said, to edit the registry go to Start => Run, type Regedit and hit enter. This will open up the Registry Editor with a window similar to Windows Explorer. It displays the registry "keys" in paths similar to directories. Navigate to the path you want.

If this is your first time using the Registry Editor, I probably wouldn't try what NDC is suggesting. I would familiarize myself with some known registry hacks posted in some of the threads here or at www.regedit.com (http://www.regedit.com) first.

Good luck http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
