My cd rom hasnt been reading all cd's lately so i decieded to install another one. What steps should i take when installing it.
I tried it and the message that came up was:
Primary Harddisc fail.
Should i boot and go into Bios? Then what should i do?. I want to do this without going to my local computer store (with them ending up fixing it)

Any help will be thankful.

Make sure you haven't switched your primary and secondary ide cables around.Did you unplug the cable from your hard drive? Make sure your hardrive is connectedto the primary ide cable, and your CD to the secondary.

check the jumper plugs in teh back of the drive. . you need to ahve the hard drive set to master and the cd-rom set to slave

I agree with werd if you just took the cd rom out of the box and installed it into your computer then it is still set as a master.
This is true if you are slaving the cd to the hard drive. If that is the case then it should work fine when you change the cd to a slave.
