friend brought over p.c ,been sitting in a closet for months(years?)133mhz bitwise w/95
cd rom drive missing,want to reinstall w/95 and replace modem 14.4 to 56.6 and batt. is it worth it? or is a dead batt=dead system?

A 133 is probably not worth it. To get a modem for that speed, you'd need to almost get a 3com. Most of the other modem require I think it is a 166 or faster CPU. For the money you are going to spend on this, you better off saving it towards another newer PC.

It's just a dead battery on the motherboard, used to maintain the CMOS setings & system clock. It can be replaced for about $2.

The rest of the box should still be OK.

I`am sorry maybe i added to much secondary in fomation. my main question concern the battery and the checksum error messages
