I have a new computer and need to transfer the files from my old one...1995 compaq presario. the problem is that when i was setting up my new one I unplugged the old one and unplugged the keyboard and mouse. I plugged it all back in and now when I turn it on it only gets as far as showing the amount of ram and immediately get FF 301 Keyboard Error...............I checked to make sure everything is plugged in where it should be. Please help me. I need to get stuff off of there so I can pack it up and send it to my nephew. Thanks!!!

Either you have the plugs reversed for the mouse and the keyboard or you have damaged the keyboard plug and need to get a new keyboard ($15 for a cheap one).

Check your keyboard plug to make sure there are no bent pins. If it's a PS/2 type plug, they are fairly thin and easy to bend. You could also try another keyboard if you have one available.

Another way to transfer the files from one computer to the other is to remove the hard drive from the old system and connect it to the new one. Then it's just a quick copy operation.

Good luck http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
