I misflashed my BIOS, while trying to upgrade my Processor. I bought a new BIOS chip written with the new BIOS software I was trying to FLASH. The computer starts fine like it always has. except now I have a problem with the hard drives loading apparently. The BIOS Auto-Detect drives works fine, it finds the correct drives. But when it completes the mem check and goes on to the IDE check I get hung up, and the speaker beeps. I originally had a Cyrix 233 with a Seagate (single), a Western Digital Master and CDROM slave, I have tried basically every other Hard Drive and CDROM config, without loosing my Seagate as the boot drive and the Western Dig the secondary. Any clues would be helpful

Tommy, it could be a number of things. You're certain the cables are installed correctly and the IDE drives are jumpered properly? Also, in your motherboard manual, there should be a reference to beeps (number of beeps, etc.) and what they mean. Check that too. If you haven't a motherboard manual/Bios manual, repost with brands and ask where to find them.Double check your Bios settings, again, if you have a manual.
Include more info about your system if you can as well. Double check EVERYTHING to make certain you've got the boards seated, etc.

Thanks for the start. I am certain the IDE cables are connected correctly. One set actually has the plug with the wide pin so that you can only plug it in one way, the correct way. And I know Pin 1 is the red dots on the cable. I have removed both drives to double check jumpers and changed them as needed for different cable schemes while I troubleshooted. My motherboard is a PC Chips (yeah I know dont tell me) and the book doesnt have info about beeps. It's one long beep until you turn off the power to the system. I have checked plugs and cards to make sure they are seated and everything, I checked power plugs too.

When I first replaced my BIOS chip, I got essentially the same problem, except for this. I would turn on the system the drives would power up, and once they got to the IDE check, they would power off, as if in Power Management mode, I have Power controls off, for this reason, at one other time earlier in the life of this computer I had this same sort of problem, except it would actually load Windows. But now, since my troubleshooting and changing configs, I do not have this Power issue.
