how does bootable cd works?

Hey.. guys, I just wondering how does a bootable CD rom works? i just bought a CD rom and on its label.. it says that the CD is bootable? How do I test them to see if the CD is bootable?

On your BIOS there should be an option were it lets you select the devices the computer gona try to boot from.

You can select some combinations and from those there should be one that will make it search for a bootable CD on the computer first, the th HD, floppy, etc.
