Hope you e-mailed santa... I did... CMonster 11-21-1999, 11:22 AM Well, all of the components are current - I guess: and I want the 2048 CPU unit! http://www.sgi.com/t3e/images/t3e_home.jpg Fits in my garage and would make one he77 of a graphics engine or web server. KillerBug 11-21-1999, 01:18 PM First, it would be in a deep blue server case, it would have 16 Alphas, 20 73gb IBM hds, a T45 line, one of those new 32chip voodoo 5s, a digital stereo reciever pumping out 1000w over 5 speekers (2 back, 2 front, 1 center) and 3 500W powered sub woofers (1 left, 1 right, 1 behind). It would have a lether chair taken out of a comanche helecopter, modifed with hydrolics to move it, and a 500W subwoofer in the bottom, and a 250W one in the back. I would Sony make a coustome Trinitron monitor that woul be 17 stories tall, and I would also have full 3d glases with 2 monitors in them. I would have a motion sensing joystick shaped like every gun available in any game. I would have 2 high speed DVD-ram drives, I would have a USB scanner, USB digital video camera, a 10,000 page per minute picture quality printer, I would have a card that would have all the chips from every system on earth, with spaces for all the cartrige games, and I would use a 50,000 CD changer for all the CD games, as well as all my programs. I might have another system based on 64 interleaved CPUs from the PSX2 modified to run in computers, imagine just one 128 bit CPU in your system! I would have it atached to simulators for every kind of plane, hovercraft, car, or any other vehicle you can think of. I would also have a room that stimulates every part of my body to make me feel as though I am in a true deathmatch, and every movement would move part of my charactor. Oh, and one more thing, about 100,000 trilobytes of ram. now that is a dream system, I would estimate it would require about 14 square miles for all the extra gizmoes. Might as well throw in a microwave, fridge, toilet and a harem so you'd never have to move /forum/smile.gif. alpha 11-21-1999, 03:25 PM Me, 700mhz Athlon o/c'd to 1Ghz (!!) with rock-*** cooling, 256mb PC133 SD, four 36gb LVD drives, Sound Blaster 1024 Platinum, eight speaker surround with a cool subwoofer, T3 internet connection, 72x CD, 8x CD burner/RW drive, zip drive, DVD RAM drive, 22in TFT Apple Studio Cinema displaybooting BeOS, Linux, Windows NT, IBM OS/2, Windows 98, Windows 3.11, MS-DOS, DR-DOS, Minix, Solaris, Berkley Standard Unix, PC-DOS and OS/2 Server for E-business, a cool full tower case, and not to forget a Hercules TNT2 Ultra! Oh wait, I have one of them. /forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by alpha (edited 11-21-1999).] Eli 11-21-1999, 09:51 PM My dream PC is just any PC that runs Windows 9x without any problems or crashes. I know I know, it'll never happen... pickel 11-21-1999, 10:28 PM MntSnow's personal computer w/ all the updates and the Chinese screen saver, I know it would have to be a dandy!!!!!!! /forum/biggrin.gif /forum/biggrin.gif /forum/biggrin.gif the pickel adam-sith 11-22-1999, 01:13 AM For me, Windows 2000 Server (NT 5.0) OS AND BeOS Sony VAIO 21' Trinitron Monitor 750MHz 20 Gigabyte HD 128M ram HP DeskJet 694C Printer Microsoft Advanced Keyboard "Is that the right name?" L8r /forum/smile.gif RobRich 11-22-1999, 02:22 AM While not graphics orientated, I would choose the Beowulf clustered network computing system at Goddard Space Flight Center running Linux Beowulf: System one (The Hive): 64 node network with 128 pentium pro 200's, 24 gigbyte of memory, and nearly a terabyte of storage. System two (Bulk Data Storage): 64 node network with 128 pentium pro 200's, 8 gigabyte of memory, and 1.4 terabyte og storage. Older clusters: Comprised of several old pentium and 486 dx4 100 systems. They provide workstation access to the main computing network. This whole system can funtion as one large computer which can cruch numders at an incredible rate. The last system setup, which consisted of 199 pentium pro cpu's, reached a sustained 10.1 Gflop/s for a fraction of a supercomputers cost. Now they exceeded even that! Almost tempts me to buy some old 486's for around $40 a piece and see how far I can push them!! /forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by RobRich (edited 11-22-1999).] mcalmon 11-22-1999, 08:39 AM Fun imagination! I agree with Eli, a computer that never lock! Think, how much time we spend reboot and reboot and reboot and reboot and reboot and reboot and reboot ?, at end we reinstall Win9x, and the system hang again! Bull S..t. We need a computer with a card boot, where we can save the OS, we turn on the PC, 5 seconds later we boot Win9x, or NT or Linux, or some other. We load the applications from HD, but the system could save it in a RAM CARD with some memory. I know that you understood! Excuse my english! Bye, TonyC dexmax 11-22-1999, 11:45 PM hope all your dreams come true. Me I sent your specs to santa and let him decide what to give this christmas. I agree w/ you all, to tell you frankly, I were to dream, I want a computer that interfaces w/ my brain and load things in my brain, like in the movie -- Matrix. That would be cool, right. Well, I just asked for an Athlon from my dad, I'll build everything myself, like i always do. Hope he will be feeling like santa this coming christmas!!! Pat Kennedy 11-24-1999, 01:46 AM Well I'd be happy with a 512 processor 1TB of memory SGI Origin 2800. I would go for some of your systems but it looks like it would match my O2 plus I'm starting to like IRIX. Pat Pat Kennedy 11-24-1999, 01:48 AM Oh BTW here's a pic of my system. Now where to put it. Pic (http://www.sgi.com/origin/2000/images/2800L.jpg) Pat Sorry, I didn't want Scott or Socalgal to yell at me for putting a huge pic on the page.
