If you go to Dell's website, you can order systems with rambus in them, BUT you won't get them until the end of Dec, if you're lucky. We called them, and they said that you cant get any machines with RIMMs now. They'll take your money, and that's about as far as it will go for now.
For you OEM builders out there, we've got some RIMM pricing, and you will be spending $900+ for 128 meg. You will not get $900 worth of speed increase.
SuperMicro has a board with SIMMs and RIMMs, with 820 chipset we were going to use, but Intel won't let anybody sell them. They're claiming there's a flaw in the chipset. What that boils down to, is Intel is pi*&ed they can't figure out how to put both SIMMS and RIMMs on the same board, and SuperMicro did. With all the **** M$ is going through, I think someone should also put Intel where it belongs!!
We've been doing alot of homework on rambus, lately, and we're not liking what we're finding, can't get ANYTHING, yet.
My advice, WAIT. If you can't wait, buy a new system with both SIMMs and RIMMs, so you can upgrade to RIMMs later.
