Hi,

I have a question regarding my pc sound that is driving me crazy to figure out - It sounds like a record player when the needle needs to be picked up at the end of an album! How can I stop this sound and what is it? I turned my speakers down but what could it be?

Thanks to the one who has the answer!

Could be interference from a mobile phone!!!!!!!!!!. If you have one near your P.C then try moving it. (the phone, not the p.c)

Did you recently install a new sound card ? If so, Have you went to the device manager to see if you have any conflicts ?? If you installed a different card, You might have a hardware conflict with pre-installed onboard sound card. Gotta disable the previous card. Also, Click on the speaker icon on your task bar, Make sure settings are correct under your advanced panal.

also search the internet for posts regarding your motherboard...you may find that other people have had speaker fuzz when certain features are enabled in the bios.....especialy if its an FIC motherboard.

Do you have your mic turned on in playback mode?
Double click on your Volume icon. Take the check out of Microphone.

i have seen this happen from accidental voltage shorts in and around the PC. I have seen this happen when older sound cards are put on new M-brds. I shorted out a pentium133 chip once fooling around with my fan wires and bumped a live wire against the side of a heat sink. this lead to the special niose you describe. Also I played my guitar through the line in feature of a sound card and was presented with a sick sound card having "those noises" that go scratch in the night. also I had an intel pentium60mhz board that was noisy like that no matter what card i used. Then i plugged it in some where else one day and it disapeared. It seems the wall outlet can play apart in grounding your PC.
