I want to upgrade my computer. Here are my system spec

466 @ 525 Celeron
Abit BP6
128mg of ram
Viper V770 Ultra (TNT2 Ultra)
6x DVD
6.4g Hard drive
15" Daytek monitor
Windows98SE

Any ideas what I could upgrade.I have being thinking about the Geforce 256 DDR or a 19" monitor from Optiquest(v95) or to a Atlon 650mhz with AGP 4x (when avaible)

I would go for the bigger monitor. I have a 19 incher on my computer at home, and the 14/15 inchers at work make me sick. Everything else in your setup looks good to me. Except maybe your HD. It didn't take me long to fill up 6 gigs on mine. Also when I upgraded from a 5400 rpm dma33 to a 7200 dma66 I could really see the difference in performance. Also If I had a BP6 i would put another chip in it and run nt or linux, but that won't do you much good if you like playing a lot of games.

I'm with the other guys, get a bigger monitor. It's one of the few investments you can carry on for a few years. I just upgraded from a 17 to a 19 a few months ago , and I don't believe I can ever go smaller again.

Also with bdog, get another cpu and a copy of Win2000 beta (NT 5). You would be surprised with how far WinNT gaming has gone.

I agree with the guys also. Go for the bigger monitor. But optiquest??? Try a Viewsonic ps790. Works great!!!

Yup! get a bigger monitor. The biggest you could afford(also taking to account the quality), thats the rule.

I'm not against the celeron, but why not try a Pentuim III.

Everything else seems very good...

On second thought, get the Athlon--make sure you get a good mobo--ei. Epox. And the GeForce too. Its a powerful combination, and it has a price too.

good luck!

I don't know if the geforce is quite ready for standard apps yet. The drivers aren't optimised, might not be for some time... tnt2 outperforms it on everything except 16x1200 res... If you wanna use two monitors, go with a ge though.

Thabks guys.

I'll probably buy a 19" monitor since my hard drive is almost full. Im going to be able to install new game that support the Geforce. I will wait until spring to get the Atlon ande Geforce. I heard that by then the 1 ghz CPU will be out so.

Keep everything you have, buy a good 19" monitor, and another HD(I'd suggest a IBM 13.1gig 22GXP).True,1gig CPU's will be out shortly, but it's going to be awile before the games/vid cards take advantage of that speed....To help, you may get a stick of Seimans 133mhz, 128mb SDRAM,it's rated at 6ns!And from what I understand, you can push it to 152mhz FSB!.....However,RDRAM is coming out,but that means another mobo that will support it, and who knows what kind of compatibility issues will happen?Like I said, keep what you have and wait until everything settles out....unless you have a lot of $ money to spend on your hobby.....DawgTuff.
