I've got 2 Maxtor 36GB ATA/66 drives connected to an onboard 66 controller on my p3v4x Asus mobo. Windows 98se/Millenium recognizes both of them. Win2k on the other hand only recognizes the primary master. Both drives appear under device manager but one has the conflict exclamation mark next to it. I've tried the updated drivers, and even the old drivers. The bios has been flashed and the win2k SP1 has been installed. HELP!!!!!

Whats the error say (the one with the yellow exclamation point? ) I can say the win2K will work fine with the large drives as I have 2 maxtor 40 gigs running in my Dual celeron BP6 rig.
I believe the problem is the drivers for your disk controller.
What you should do, if better Windows 2000 ATA66 controller drivers are not available, is to repartition the boot partition to no more than 7.8 Gigs. When NT does not have an extended disk controller/drivers it will only see that much of the boot partition. ( It's an Int13h problem ).
Good luck!

Thanks BBA and Mntsnow
I'll try the repartitioning scheme tonight. Sorry it took me solong to reply and thank you guys. As for the error msg Mntsnow, al it says is this device will not work until you restart your system. I'll try the 7gb idea from bba and hopefully all will be well.
thanks again

Ok guys... I've tried absolutely everything I can think of now along with what you've told me to do <the 7gb boot partition>. So far that's been - trying the drive's in every size, shape, and form, and partition setup. I've tried switching them from one controller to another, kept them on seperate controllers, even partitioned the 36gb <non-boot> drive into 2 equal halves!!!! I still cannot see the 2nd <non-boot>36gb maxtor drive under win2k. - the only thing resembling an error code in the win2k dev. manager is code 14??? HELP!!! I need to get this computer up and running so I can do some work!!! Please... Sorry about getting excited, but i'm lost here... Thanks
