Has anyone figured out how to assign a letter to a Zip Drive (Iomega internal) and to keep it from changing in what seems an arbitrary manner?

Mine will change (on Win95 system) and then that moves all the letters on my HD partitions! This really messes up my addressing! I appreciate your assistance!

Thx. Brangwen http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Go into device manager (right click "MY COMPUTER" and select properties) then click on the "Device Manager" tab. Next, click on the plus next to disk drives and then right click on the "Iomega Drive" entry and select properties. Click on the settings tab and on the bottom of the screen you will find options for reserving drive letters. Set the minimum drive letter that you want you zip drive to use and the maximum as well. Restart the machine and that should take care of the problem.

Hope this helps.

Brangwen, I hope the above advise works. You should enter the same letter for both min and max drive letter.

Are you having trouble with drive letter assignment only when you boot with a disk in the Zip drive?

I've been fighting this problem for months now, and despite the help of some very knowledgeable people, my device manager simply wont "lock" the Zip to a specific drive letter. I'm currently in contact with an Iomega tech....again.

If your still having trouble, check the following threads. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/Forum2/HTML/007338.html http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/Forum2/HTML/008225.html
