About once in 20 startups, I'm getting a DOS screen and a message like: Master Hard Disk Falure. If I turn the computer off and then on again a couple of times it works again.

So..I bought another hard disk (13.6 gig Western) My current c drive=4 gig and Ddrive =6 gig. The computer is a clone about 2 years old with 128 mg ram.

THE QUESTION - Is there a way that I can copy the info on my current c drive to the new drive and then swap them out and boot up as before? OR do I have to bite the bullet and re-install everything?

Get Partition Magic 5.0.

Install your new HD as slave. Use PM to create new partitions on the new HD by coping the partitions off of the old HD. Once done, unplug your master (old HD) and change the setting of the slave (new HD) to become the master. Actually, you can leave the new slave as a slave and boot from it as long as you have removed the master.

I had a problem with a machine in which it was the IDE cable that caused the error that you are getting.

A sure bet is to spend some more money and buy a Hd copy utility such as Pwerquest's Drivecopy !

I don't think drive copy allows you to mess with resizing paritions and doing other things to them.

Partition Magic will copy the partition over as a new partition and allow you to manipulate partitions.
