mx300, dvd and dma probs

have a 5agm2 chaintech m/board. amd.k6-2.350
64m ram, pioneer 6x32 DVd. evil queen 16m banshee 3d card. tried to apply DMA to stop the stutter from dvd, system crashed when i turned it on (dma). got new drivers from chaintech, same deal. installed diamond MX300 s/card, system freezes after a few mins
same deal got latest drivers from diamond no improvement. now reverted back to pci64. pity cause the mx300 is good. anyone have any ideas???????

What operating system are you running? Have you ever been able to play dvd movies? Reason for asking is Windows 98 supports dvd fully, 95, if i'm not mistaken, won't play movies but will read disks with data.
