Hey guys
I need to low level format my older WD drive cause **** linux is a pain in my *** and it wont just go away! So how do I do it? Also can i run into problems if i do this? I mean I really could care less about the drive but it would be cool to get it working.
Spinrite 5 can do just that or get a low-level utility from HD manufacturer if at all possible. Read Q & A for spinrite here http://grc.com/srQ&A.htm .
Hope this helps.

You don't need to low level format the drive to get rid of linux. I am assuming that you are trying to repartition the drive with Win 9x? If so, that is the problem. Their fdisk has problems working with the linux file system. To get rid of it, use the boot disk that you used to start linux and use disk druid (red hat version) to remove the partitions, then save and exit. If you don't have disk druid, then use the manual option to have the control you need in order to remove the partitions then exit when done. You should be able to use Win 9x fdisk at this point.
Hope this helps.
