But not to you guys. CNN posted a news story last week about a man in Brazil who went on a shooting rampage, and their article stated "A computer game may have motivated a medical student to go on a deadly shooting rampage"
What is wrong with these people? This story only continues the trend of blaming computer games, tv, rock and roll, and whatever else as the cause of society's problems, rather than the actual cause.
Rather than go off in this forum, I'd like to know if anyone here knows of a good method to make my opinion known. I've emailed CNN, but of course, have received no response. I feel that there are a lot of people on the Web who feel as I do, and there must be a public forum where others have expressed their views on this situation. Does anybody know where I can find something like that?

If you're curious, the CNN story can be found here: http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/americas/9911/11/brazil.theater.shooting.reut/index.html

Ha, now you know how gun owners feel. People shoot, instantly an inanimate object is at fault. I hate cowards who make excuses for their actions.

Almost as bad is the current vogue that every incident must have someone to blame. It's no longer an act of God or bad luck, it's negligence by the individual/municipal authority/police/company (delete as applicable) or as you say, Apostle, the fault of society in general.

Haha. Duke Nukem caused massacre? Nothing to do with him being a smackhead with assault weapons?
Burglars filing lawsuits against householders because the drainpipe wasn't strong enough and they are paralysed? So much for the legal system.

Apostle 83- I second that!
If braindead people want to blame guns (or whatever other inanimate object was used in a killing) then cars should also have a 15-day waiting period before purchase.
A Buick Roadmaster is a much more effective assault weapon than any pistol or rifle...

There have been dozens of times I've caught some "news" story that drives me nutz. The story in vogue now is, (paraphrasing)" Is it hard to grow up as a male in today's society?" Intimating, of course, that society and it's pressures are screwing lots of guys up. Now males who watch (or hear about) this garbage can parrot the idiocy and be able to blame "growing up as a male in today's society" as a reason for any anti-social behavior. More of the "blame game." And the irresponsible media doesn't give a ****: money is the bottom line. To get back to my first sentence, I still run to my computer and email these jerks (Doesn't Tom Brokaw really remind you of Ted Baxter from the Mary Tyler Moore show?) and give them a piece of my mind. Though my email likely will be auto-deleted, it gives me peace of mind. Whew. Got that off my chest. /forum/wink.gif

If you wanted you could make a rant site for something like this. I'd bet there would be quite a bit of interest.

Just an idea.

How about it Scott, Socalgal, whats the chances of "Whats Your Rant Post" we could all let let off a bit of steam now and then and perhaps these A.H.'s at CNN can stop blameing Comps for being behind these types of shootings.
We all know you have to aim the gun and pull the trigger for a gun to kill some one, the only control over that should be is the person mentally fit to have a weapon in the first place.( after all you don,t what the local Crazy house to issue guns to their inmates.)

I think it would be good to have a Rants area.

My guess is that setting up a rant section would be a huge legal liability.
