As said above, that is almost always solved by reinstalling the video card drivers (or in this case, on board video drivers), and/or updating to a newer driver version.

I knew it was the drivers but i was hopeing there was another way because the motherboard doesn't have a drive cd or anything and the pcchips website is so slow even with dsl. I had to go though it with my display picture option off so i could load it up. Then when i got it to load up i found the driver but was downloading at .7kb/sec and it would take 3 hours. So i saw your replys and didn't see any other options so i went looking for the drivers but no luck. Until i looked at the motherboard and saw a gold heatsink with SIS 530 on it i thought i could go to there website to get it. Well they had it and I downloaded it and installed it. Everything works great now. The resolution options are back and so are the 32-bit,16-bit, 256, and 16 colors. I'm glad i got that figured out. But i owe it to you guys. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Thanks very much. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I appriciate it all. ~Joel(jl123) jl123 06-29-2000, 12:02 AM On-Board video doesn't have the option for 16-bit and 32-bit color and won't go to higher resolutions. We installed a new hard drive and reinstalled win98se. Before it would let us go up to 32-bit color and go to higher resolutions. Why is this happening and what can be done to solve this problem???? ~Joel(jl123) GOOMER 06-29-2000, 12:05 AM You need to install the video drivers that came with the motherboard cd. qball 06-29-2000, 12:52 AM You may need to reinstall the video drivers, but something else may be afoot. You should be able to do this through Device Mangler. If the adapter is already there and no conflict you have run into the problem that 98 has with VGA and monitors (mainly because microsuck developed the OS). Install the drivers first, iffin that cleans things up, super. If it doesn't read on... Go to Device Mangler, under monitors add a generic monitor if one does not already exist. Reboot to safe mode. Go to device mangler. Delete all monitors other than the generic one. Reboot and check out Display Properties, they should show what your looking for. Post back with any problems SysOpt.com
