Hi,

A friend just burnt a cd for me with all my downloaded files - winzip, free isps, e.t.c. so that I wouldn't have to worry about a hard disk loosing everything. I told him to compress everything as much as possible.

Put in the cd, and I have one file, with the ending .iso.bz . Now instead of bringing the cd back to him, as he has a very busy job, I'll ask here first. /forum/smile.gif

I know how to get iso files, and I could extract the file in linux either, if that's what I need.

Thanks,
Brendan

Brendan, its really difficult to figure out exactly what you are asking. Could you re-phrase your question so that those on this board can be in a better position to help you out?

Thanks

Brendan,

I am not familar with the BZ file format...are you sure that it's BZ and not G Z? GZ is a compressed file format that is widely used in the *nix world and on the net. I would say that you have a ISO file that was compressed using the GZ compression system (winzip 6.3 or higher will beable to uncompress it).
I will continue to see if I can find information on a B Z compression system but I havent run acrossed it yet

Check this site out.
http://sourceware.cygnus.com/bzip2/index.html
There is a program at that site you can download that is for Windows9* but it just talks about unzipping bzip2 files. I don't know if it will work for bzip files.
