i installed a p3 667 and in the windows system in detects " genuine intel x86 family 6 model 8 stepping 1" does anyone know what this means?

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure (nor do I care), but x86 refers to the chip architecture, family 6 is the Pentium III, model and stepping, you'll have to have someone else tell you. FYI, my PIII 450 states (NT 4.0, btw); 'x86 Faminly 6 Model 5 Stepping 2' SysOpt.com
