have an old cd rom laying around but don't remember speed...any programs out there that will tell the speed of the drive...example: 8x 24x 32x etc. etc.

Sandra can do a benchmark, which I just ran on my 40X Hi-Val and it showed the Drive Technology is a 20X CD speed. Not a good drive /forum/frown.gif

One of the best programs that I have found to test and benchmark CD-Burners and Readers is called CdSpeed99 (http://users.glo.be/~erikd/cdspeed.htm)
