I know it seems so easy but I just fdisk'd and formatted the drive and installed win98se. I downloaded all the drivers beforehand except the sony internal modem k56flexv.90 I couldn't find so I figured i'd use standard 56k kflex v.90 in the list of modems but first of all when I autodetect it will not find a modem and if I manually install one on com 1 it will not connect.I've searched the sony website high and low.Its a sony vaio pcg748. Any help on this will be much appreciated. Thanks

The thing is that it installs fine as a standard 56k flex v90 and says its working properly in device manager but when it goes to connect it doesn't make the normal click sound of the modem working it just says cannot find dial tone almost instantly, maybe its a setting I need to adjust. Any suggestions on what I can try cause i'm all out of ideas. Thanks

usually the "standard" modems will work best with usrobotics or ahrdware modems...all other modems its hit or miss...
do you have any kind of restore or software cd for the computer? usually the drivers can be found on there...in fact i jsut checked the sony website and they refer to the application restore cd as having the modem drivers...
