Also, is there a specific way to access bios on compaqs? Steve R Jones 06-23-2000, 01:44 PM The best way to check the processor speed is to look under the hood. Pop off the cover and the cpu fan and read all about it. As far as the bios, as soon as you see the big red COMPAQ logo and a blinknig cursor in the upper right hand corner->Hit the F10 key. qball 06-23-2000, 03:30 PM There also exist many freeware utilities that will give you load of info on your cpu, FSB, memory, and drives. Check the shareware sites and search for cpu. The CPU will states it's manufacture speed, the BIOS should give the speed and the multipliers. I still ran the utilities and found out some interesting things. I thought I had a 100Mhz FSB with a 3.5 multiplier for 350Mhz, right? Both utils stated my FSB to be 101.5Mhz and a CPU runnning at 355Mhz. Overclocking without even knowing! kirk6677 06-25-2000, 12:50 AM go to start, run, regedit, hkey local machine hardware, description, system, central proccessor, and finaly 0 you should see mhz and if you cant read it just double click on it and change from hexadecimal to decimal and that should tell you the true proccessor speed. now im on a nt machine at work but ive done this at home on 98 also it is very similar if not the same.
